Rather than having a poster session in the literal sense (which is impractical because of the venue), our plan is to have “virtual posters”, in which contributers will display a short presentation on their own lap-top, which others in the immediate vicinity can view, as with a poster. The idea is not to display a talk-length presentation, but rather a handful of slides, with no more information than would be on a poster. The presentation should preferably be understandable wihtout commentary by the presenter, to give presenters a chance to look at other people's “posters”.
In addition, each poster presenter will also have the opportunity to advertise their poster by projecting a single slide, at the start of the poster session, for one minute. This is so that the attendees can see what your topic is, who your co-authors are, and what you look like, so they can find the “posters” they particularly want to see. This slide, preferably in pdf, should be uploaded to a common laptop during the break before the poster session, to allow efficient turnover from one presenter to the next.
